Cell-Based Biomanufacturing for Next-Generation Ingredients.
Project: Master Thesis Project
Scope: 60 ECTS (full-time master's thesis)
Location: Copenhagen, Denmark
Start: September, 2026
About us: Many of the ingredients we rely on every day — in food, fragrance, and materials — still come directly from animals. This has historically caused supply limitations, introduced variability, and raised ethical and sustainability concerns. Meat Tomorrow exists to solve that. We are developing a cell-based biomanufacturing platform to produce these ingredients without the animal, making the process more consistent, scalable, and resilient.
Position overview: We are offering a master's thesis project to a highly motivated student with interests in stem cell biology and differentiation. The project aims to optimize a scalable directed differentiation protocol of livestock pluripotent stem cells. The characterization of cell identity across differentiation stages will consist of both wet-lab and bioinformatics approaches.
Depending on the needs of the project at the time of starting the master’s thesis work, the student will be involved in some of the following:
Culturing and maintaining livestock PSCs and derived differentiated cell populations
Optimization pre-differentiation conditions, such as seed-train cell expansion
Conducting adherent and suspension culture differentiation protocols to drive lineage commitment
Characterizing of pluripotency and differentiation outcomes using immunocytochemistry, flow cytometry, and bulk RNA sequencing
Quantifying compound yield across differentiation conditions using relevant analytical methods
Contributing to the optimization of differentiation conditions in an iterative, hypothesis-driven manner
We are looking for a student who:
Is currently enrolled in a master's program in molecular biology, biotechnology, cell biology, or a related discipline
Has at least 3 months of hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture (must-have), preferably with PSCs.
Is familiar with standard molecular and cell biology techniques such as ICC, flow cytometry, or qPCR
Is methodical, detail-oriented, and curious about working in a fast-paced research environment
What We Offer:
🌍 A thesis project with real-world applications
👩🔬 Mentorship from scientists with extensive stem cell biology expertise
🚀 Experiences in a dynamic biotech startup environment
🥳 Socials with your colleagues
Deadline: We evaluate applications on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible — the position will close once filled.
Interested? Send your CV together with a brief description of your motivation and relevant experience to apply@meattomorrow.com. We are excited to hear from you!
